As you can gather, my name is Zack Langston! I'm a 23 year old California native with a deep-seated passion for video games of all sorts, having experienced the days of the Gamecube, Xbox 360, and so on all the way up to the present. A creative at heart with a love of stories, I originally focused my creative pursuits on acting, devoting much of my time to it during my years in higher education. In college, I focused on the art of theatre and, through my efforts, became a capable actor and director. In doing so, however, I realized that I didn't enjoy it as much as I did in my youth, and eventually decided that it just wasn't a viable career choice for me. Seeking a new creative outlet, I found my interest in video games as a whole reignited, eventually deciding to take the plunge into game development and design as a new way for me to bring unique and engaging experiences to the public.
Though I've dabbled in different game engines in my youth, either independently or as part of a class (including GameMaker Studios I & II, Source, and Unity), my most recent and most serious game development efforts have been through Unreal. I am, as of this writing, a student at Vertex, the online training center for Unreal Engine 5. There, I've developed a firm grasp of the Unreal Engine, as well as the intricacies of designing and programming a game from the ground up.
Working both independently and in groups, I've created (or helped create) a variety of projects using Unreal, and have seen multiple through to completion. Through working on these projects, I've cultivated a solid skillset that I believe makes me an effective game developer, including problem solving, creativity, project management, and group communication. Though my experience in the AAA space is still limited, I am eager to combine these skills and my passion for games and use them to work towards creating imaginative and dynamic games that millions can enjoy.
